Stepfone Montgomery is the Principal and CEO of MSS Transit, a certified minority and small business consultant firm specializing in transit safety, operations, and business relationships.
Stepfone is an accomplished leader and business man in the transportation industry. With over 34 years of experience, he has worked his way from an entry position to an executive, then transitioning to a business owner. Stepfone is considered a results-oriented and innovative change agent, coupled with being a thought leader. He is known as a “master connector” and very effective at networking throughout many industries and the nation.
His Company, MSS Transit, specializes in helping companies develop projects here in Southern California. In addition, his company has found a niche market in Design Ops. Design Ops is the relationship of design firms and the operations department of a transit agency. MSS ensures that the two parties are working together to design and construct the best project. While Stepfone is new to the California, he has built a progressive responsible career working for New York's major transportation agencies including the Long Island Railroad, New York City Transit, and before retiring he served as the Chief Officer and Vice President overseeing the Staten Island Railway.
Stepfone has a professional commitment to "leaving things in a better place than how he found them" by instituting sustainable and systemic enhancements and efficiencies. He has a special talent for shifting organizational cultures from being reactive to becoming proactive and strategic. He takes pride in his proclivity for talent identification and human capital development.
He is personally committed to "giving back" and cultivating the leaders of tomorrow. Mr. Montgomery serves as a guest lecturer with the Leadership and Development at City University of New York (CUNY), Career Excellence Academy here is Southern California and other organizations. He is also an avid community leader with a strong personal commitment to civic volunteerism and mentoring, contributing to organizations as 100 Black Men and the Eagle Academy. He also serves on the Board of Directors for One Hundred Black Men and the President for the Southern Regional Chapter for the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO).
Stepfone Montgomery has established a proven track record of success and results. His visionary and forward-thinking leadership and service have been recognized by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA); Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for outstanding secure transit agency; Community Organization of Railroad Workers (CORE) for dedicated service and support to employees; and the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials- New York Chapter (COMTO-NY) for Outstanding Commitment, Pioneering Effort and Consummate Leadership.
He has also received awards from the City of NY and One Hundred Black Men for his community involvement.
Mr. Montgomery is a father of two children ages 29 and 30 and is a graduate of Capella University with a BS in Business.
